Square Lake Triathlon is Saturday, September 10

The first triathlon FrontRunner ever organized was the Square Lake Triathlon.  In 2000, 2 local triathletes, Mo and Suzanne Mouw, came to me because they were training for the big triathlon on Kona.  The Kona event was in October and at that time, the last Minnesota triathlon was the Turtleman Triathlon, which was in early August.  That was also back in the days when there were less that a 10 triathlons in the entire Midwest all summer.  We were the local event guys, having organized a number of running events.  We didn’t know anything about putting on a multisport event but Mo and Suzanne promised they would educate me along the way.
I look back at it now and realize the impact Mo and Suzanne’s request had on my life.  Thanks Mo and Suzanne!!  Since that original triathlon, FrontRunner has organized hundreds of multisport events and have introduced tens of thousands to the sport.  Square Lake Triathlon remains today as one of the “Best triathlons in the Midwest” because of the clean lake, great roads for biking and the country style beautiful run.
This year’s Square Lake Triathlon is Saturday, September 10 at Square Lake Park, north of Stillwater.  You can find additional information at the Square Lake webpage.
I hope to see you there!
